In Record Time

..at least for me. Maybe there are knitters out there that routinely finish sweaters in just 6 days but this amazed me. I decided, on a whim, that I wanted to make my mom a mother's day gift and that it would be a sweater. I found the pattern on May 1st, bought the yarn and dug in for a weekend of knitting. I finished on May 7th just in time for her arrival (my parents came for graduation). She's seems to like it. I love it and want one of my own.

The yarn is hand painted which made for some variation in the color. Of course I forgot to get a picture of my mom in the sweater, but it looks really nice on her.

Also, I finished up my Hey Teach! but need some buttons and a shower before I model it. This is the first sweater I made for myself that I actually like. I must mention I've only made 2 other items for myself: both vests (both too big and bulky). I now have hope that I can make clothes for myself and others.

Its a great feeling!

Hello Erika!

Congrats on your social work degree!! I have the privilege of working with your lovely sister, Michelle, at Bar Nunn. She told me all about your thesis and I would love to be able to read it!! I am the school social worker here at Bar Nunn. I also got my MSW at UW and am an avid knitter!! Oh! I'm being paged. Gotta go! Just wanted to intro myself and ask if you finished that lovely purple sweater? I would love to see it! Have a good one! And Congrats again! Cindy

congrats sister! Sorry we didn't make it down to see you graduate. I will have to stop and see the sweater at mom's. we've both had sniffly noses and soar throats this week so she probably forgot to show it to me when i was there the other day. I showed Cindy the slippers you made for me... she likes them. She is making Uggs (little brown fluffy booties) for a baby... they are so cute!! You two are very talented knitters. I think I should visit you each night I am in Laramie and you can help me learn to knit some stuff... :) See ya soon!

Erika, have you seen the Dan look-a-like in town? A little taller...but...I really struggled trying to decide if I should say hello. It was so weird! I saw him at Hastings....
